AudioVisual

The show this past Thursday night was definitely an experience that presented some new ideas as to what audiovisual entertainment is. I must say that honestly some of the sets didn't really reach me at all and I guess I had to be much more in touch with my inner contemporary and abstract artist to fully enjoy and appreciate it. However, other sets definitely impressed me. But what I found most interesting is that the most engaging one was the set that allowed the audience to participate, adding an element of interactivity. And even though the music wasn't my favorite, and the images weren't particularly special or shocking, the fact that people in the audience, including myself, were in control of the display made every new set of images exciting. I was completely engaged as I waited to see when my input would show up on the screen and which images it would generate. I also sat really close to the artist as he created the remixed sound using different kinds of 'discontinued' media and created a mesh of sounds that cohesively went with the images displayed on screen.

That's true. The thing the makes digital art interactive is that the art should allow us (as the audience) to participate and "interact" with it. The symbiosis between man and art truly creates the story beneath the colors and shapes.
