Great NEW Socially Responsible Interactive Game
There is a great new game coming to the iPhone soon called "Raise the Village". It is being created by a Gainesville company called New Charity Era that was started by two UF grads. I'm going to assume that everyone on this blog knows what Farmville is. Raise the Village is similar to Farmville in that you start with a plot of land and build up your personalized game. The big and most important difference between the two games is that when you purchase an item in the game, the money is put toward sending a real version of that item to a REAL village in Africa. New Charity Era is currently working with one village Uganda called Kapir Atiira. Kapir Atiira has specific needs and New Charity Era is helping the 1400 villagers become self sustaining through this game application.
I think its incredible and ridiculous that people spend LOTS of REAL money purchasing FAKE items for their farms in Farmville. I'm so glad this company has taken the initiative to turn that useless spending into a real and useful cause.
