Group 3: The Little Red Riding Hood

Hey guys today I was doing some research on materials for the beginning of our project and came across this very interesting video. I like how they layered the story.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CADz7qLsWHY&feature=PlayList&p=D40DFA69C71BDEE1&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=5.

When we create our areas in second life, I think would be interesting to think about how can we layer different types of information that can relate to the story. I think we can do this with, music, textures on the walls, text, and images. Is it possible to embed videos inside second life?

Maybe tomorrow we can create one small space in second life, and start to investigate what kind of things are possible using that software. Also, we can start to see how we can layer the information to make the interaction between the stories interesting.

Let me know what you guys think.

I watched the clip and thought it very interesting. It would take a lot of planning and work to produce something like the video on second life, especially if we are going to do more than one story together. I enjoyed how, in the clip, there were several facts that, as a reader, I would have not thought of while reading "The Little Red Riding Hood." The music especially effected the way I thought as I watched the clip. As I watched it, I thought of it as a game.

I agree that to do something like that would take planning and of course hard work, but not as much as you may think. The important thing is, first the concept, the additional layers of information that you would think might diffuse the emotion of the story, but in fact it brings it closer to our reality, or how we are trained to perceive it. The impact is quite strong. The next thing is the graphic or style concept, using orthogonal "tiles", which permit a lot of recycling of elements and of course the clever use of animation which resembles a kind of Power Point presentation.
Very cool.
BTW, my 10 year old daughter was watching as I played it and in fact she thought I was playing a game, and got a little upset about killing the poor wolf! Never mind Gramma and Riding Hood.
