Group 3 ideas
Our idea so far is a crashed starship, where the user will try to figure out what caused the crash.
Some rooms include:
Observation Deck
Communication (Message) room
Engine (Steam) room
Botanical Room
Sick Bay
Hanger Bay
Crawl Space-> Vents
Elevator
Room with collapsable floor
Bridge
What we are thinking is having some of the rooms have a few levers that may or may not effect other rooms in the ship. Also there is the idea that there might be something on the ship along with you (only applied but not seen [ie shadows, sounds, etc.])
Comments
1. People have to work together to open passageway
(a) One person stands on a platform and the other one pulls the lever. It moves across a dark space. There is a lever on the other side of the hole. The person who got across can pull the lever and the platform will start moving back and cross the hole. The other person can carefully step on the moving platform. If they miss the platform then they will fall into a hole and have to find their own way out.
2. Certain puzzles might lead you to a different world where you will discover further clues
a) Clues may lead underwater
i) Mini sunken ship
ii) Jump suits
iii) Lost walkie talkie with message
b) Before puzzles on walls or floors can be solved, clues must be found to put together the code behind alien alphabet
c) Something could be invisible until puzzle is solved
3. A room that looks like outer space
4. A room with frozen creatures and/or objects
5. A room that the player can change the partial and vapor pressure of and cause the air to condense
a) May aliens were water lovers
b) Had tentacles
c) Part of ship could be sunken underwater, so elevator leads underwater
d) Can player swim in second life?
6. Robots/cyborgs
a) Antique to suggest landed there thousands of years ago
b) Ship could have vines and plants growing over them
c) Plants on starship could be beautiful. Build a peaceful emotion for the player
7. There could be a room with lasers that the player would need to wear a suit. Clues will tell player to stand in a certain position to trigger the opening of a door.
8. A clue could say that an even bigger clue lies in the sky above the ship, but more than one player has to work together to build a structure leading up to the sky
a) There could be a time limit on how long the structure lasts
b) In the sky could be the new home of the aliens
c) There could be futuristic furniture and portraits of the aliens
d) There could be a storybook that tells about a treasure in the ship
i) Reading the book triggers the opening of a room in the starship
ii) Flipping to the last page triggers it
iii) In the storybook are word clues that the treasure chest/vault would need for the player to enter
iv) Previous clues should hint of answers needed
10. Not possibly in our time frame, but the project would be more interactive if we had a skeleton for our plot and other players could post on the chat board their opinion of what happened. We could take the inputs that we think fits best. I found this example online.
“The activity works in the following way: the teacher divides the students into pairs and tells them that s/he's going to tell them a story. At certain points in the story s/he pauses and asks them to discuss something with their partner - to decide what a character who has just been introduced looks like (a good activity if you've just been working on describing people) or what the place where the story takes place is like, to decide what a character is thinking about, what is going to happen next etc. After the students have had time to discuss in pairs, the teacher asks for their ideas, chooses the version which fits the story (or if there isn't one that's suitable says, "No, none of you have guessed. In fact..." and then provides another version before continuing.”
11. Maybe there is a picture of the alien and its family in a box. The picture has been ripped into pieces, but a player can only take out one piece of it out of the box. Players have to work together to put together the picture. When the picture is put together, the back has a message.
12. The ship could have different rooms, but when a player enters the ship, a door could open and another one could close. Same with when a player leaves the ship. Each player is given a different set of paths. For example, player one can enter door 1, 2, and 3, but not 4. Player 6 can enter door 1, 2, and 4, but not 3 until someone leaves or enters. The order chances.
Why Ship Landed There?
1. Alternate history-ship crashed there in attempt to change the history of mankind
a) Think of a historical event that aliens could of changed
i) War turnout
(1) If there was a nuclear war
(2) Ship could have pictures of the different turn out
ii) Presidential election
iii) End of the world
2. Superhuman/villain landed on earth
3. Wormhole
4. Crashed there
a) Meteors
b) Other alien attack
c) Taken over by the government
5. In search of new land
a) Give idea that aliens are living as humans now
