Arquitectural Magic

Pinwall | interactive facade pinball | urban screening from urbanscreen on Vimeo.

Urbanscreen is a group of architects and designers based in Bremen, northern part of Germany. Their work is an exciting example of creativity and superb execution. Notice that the players are as engaged as the audience with a total suspension of disbelief.

This second video is not yet in their website and although not "interactive" I think you will have your neurons firing away! enjoy

You beat me to the punch on the second video. I was mere minutes away from writing about that wall. In a perfect world, with enough time, and know-how, this is what my group's(II) project would be.

I enjoyed the wall. The sound of the wall changing really helped with bringing reality to the artwork.

I don't get it, everything we learn in class is basically that games are interactive stories, but all through out Crawfords book he says that's games aren't interactive stories. Specifically in Ch 4, he bashes the game industry for composing game story lines like mechanical parts. I don't think I could ever respect his work as a author, because all he does is say what isn't an interactive story and bash game makers. I don't think he's ever given a real example of what is. I feel that he's hung up on the word "interactive". Someone needs to buy him a dictionary and call it a day. I don't know if he really knows what he's talking about. I'm going to read 12,13 and 14, maybe he'll get to his point. The pinball idea is extremely interactive not only because its playable, but because it captures everyone's attention, but what makes it interactive is the fact that its a GAME!! I don't know why his guy quit his day job...i know, he's an artist, searching for the most "interactive" template. I simply feel that he could do this without bringing down the titles of every game ever created, maybe I should write a book about how his book is "bad"(i definitely could have used a stronger word there by the way). I feel he wants a game where the character can either choose to run around killing people or sit down and eat a rice cake. Sorry Chris,we don't have a game like that, maybe you should design it.
