Second Life and Interactivity

Brought up in class a few times, Second Life is an online game that incorporates many facets of Interactive Storytelling, such as camera angles, 3D virtual worlds, and most importantly, interacting with other players. In playing this game, I can see that the game focuses on various camera angles, from the overhead view to a view in which the character appears to be looking up (see above). The game also gives me ideas of how various settings and scenes should be represented in other games and/or movies. It even gives me the chance to explore popular cities such as San Francisco and Orlando. In comparison with World of Warcraft, I believe that Second Life has a better emphasis in experimenting with camera Angles. While World of Warcraft only views the character in an overhead view or far away, Second Life can be viewed from a camera angle of your choice. All you have to do is click the view button on the bottom and experiment with the Orbit Zoom Pan until you find your preferred angle.
