Disney's Oceans: A Majestic Story of Nature

So, I rented Disney's Oceans from blockbuster and the stunning quality and music absolutely blew me away. Narrated by Pierce Brosnan (James Bond), this movie fortells the story about our oceans and the magnificent stories of their inhabitants. This is one of the greatest stories that I've ever seen, because viewing these creatures makes us appreciate our oceans more and the ways these creatures live. There are a few quotes of this amazing documentary I want to share with you:

For many creatures on this planet, life began in the sea. Some have returned to the sea.

One in a thousand may reach the sea, enough for the species (of baby turtles) to carry on.

The first quote is indeed true. Many of the animals we study today in school have started out in the sea. As Pierce Brosnan states, some species depend on one another. For example, clownish hide within the sea anemone from predators such as puffer fish. Because of the idea that "big fish eat little fish" (Pierce Brosnan), some species like the leather-back turtle are either threatened or endangered. Along with these predators, we are also adding to the extinction of these species by throwing in too much fishing nets into the habitats of these certain species. This is what the second quote means. We need to be aware that many of these species already have a rough time surviving with all these seagulls and other predators around.

In addition, this movie also makes a wonderful tool in teaching elementary kids about science. Instead of learning through a textbook, both high school and elementary children can learn even faster through this interactive visual of the many wonderful animals.

Overall, not only does this movie tell an inspiring story about our oceans but also makes us aware that we have a lot more to explore in our oceans. Throughout the movie, I've seen some outstanding armies of different sea creatures, from thousands of crabs to the vibrant coral reefs. However, if we are not aware of the pollution we are causing to our oceans, we won't be able to access the rest of the mysterious creatures within the oceans. In fact, many of our resources comes from our oceans as well and polluting them will greatly lower our resources in the future. We must remember that the oceans are yet some still strange places that tell stories, places where "mythical dragon like" creatures do exist, and as wide open spaces that provide both food and shelter for both humans and animals alike.

By the way, if you want to learn more about our oceans, then this is a great movie to rent anytime you need a break for those loads of homework.
