Aguirre - The Wrath of God, Classic Movies and Participation
Shown in class, Aguirre is a 1972 classic movie that invloves many twists and turns within a medieval setting. According to Prof Pat, this movie is about 3 hours long. In comparison with other classics, many of these kinds of stories are much longer than today's movies. Despite the slowness of these movies, these classics give us an understanding of how early cinema started out. For example, recall the time when Pat had us watch Blade Runner. We can observe that people had a different view of 2019 in the 80s. In today's movies, we view 2019 in a similar way to how our society is nowadays, except with the flying trains. If we place these perspectives all together just like what Pat showed us on Stumble Upon, we can use these tools not only to participate in, but also to use as ideas in enabling a cultural representation of many viewpoints. We can then create an endless library of colorful stories.
