Interactive Performance

So, I've been thinking about augmented reality and interactive storytelling, and a few things come to mind. First, here is a video talking about M.I.A.'s new tour. She is planning on doing interactive performances that will make use of content that her fans send to her website. Also, the audience will be able to upload content in real-time during the performance. Thus, no two performances will be alike and the audience will have an expanded role.

Also, M.I.A. will be making all of this footage a part of the creative commons, which is so cool because then we can all use this footage, text, etc. and keep re-mixing it for our own purposes.

So, in class last time, we developed a story by passing it around the room and adding to it. Likewise, these concerts/performances/happenings will create stories which we will then have access to and can thus be retold in new ways.

Also, thanks Ed for posting videos about Augmented Reality. I will be looking into that to see how it is being used for performance.

Hi Shamar,

M.I.A's interaction tours will be fascinating but what will happen to our memory?
Our Brain stores information that we perceive through all senses (Sight, sound, smell, touch, taste) of a given experience in relation to one-another and bring those thoughts back (memory) when we see or hear or smell or feel an aspect of the experience and connect to the original experience. With the novel idea of "A new experience every time", will our brain get confused or adapt to the new concept!
