Final Thoughts
While Prince Leopold is claimed to be a violent individual through secondhand testimonies; his violent tendencies are only shown when he is out hunting, slaps Sophie, and yells at Uhl. He is never shown acting in a way that anyone would consider abnormally violent and irredeemable for this time period. That being said the audience has to believe Leopold is so vile a human being that he deserves to be framed for the murder of women who isn't even dead. Also Uhl who claims to be a childhood friend of Leopold is driven to expose his plot to overthrow his father when he thinks Leopold has committed Sophie's murder. After realizing Eisenhiem's trick, Uhl is amazed and dazzled, rather than mortified that he accused the Prince of murder, endited him of treason, and watched him commit suicide. Regardless of whether Leopold deserved to die for his crimes or not, A police inspector like Uhl should be at least a little shaken by the idea that a magician could orchestrate the death of a member of the ruling family and elope with a duchess without being held accountable. Eisenhiem said he would make Leopold disappear and he succeeded.
