John Cage 166

Above I have embedded 166, which I believe, while referencing lines, also applies to the layout of many of these small stories. The layout forces you to put more effort into reading the stories and guides you into taking the entire time needed to properly read and experience the story as John Cage wanted you to. By forcing pauses by creating space within the story he forces you to read the story as it is written rather than sprint through it as you would a intellectual text or otherwise. It speaks to me in that some times you just have to do what the situation asks of you and that you must make the most of your experience even if it is practicing doing nothing as is the case with standing in line. To properly enjoy and understand many stories you must be able to recognize the rhythm of the story to get all of the small nuances. John Cage forces these upon you which I think is good practice as well as interesting protection of his ideas to force them to be interpreted as intended.
