Possible Project Ideas

After the conclusion of the first week of the course, I was able to identify a few ideas for possible interaction design projects.

The following were all ideas that were of interest to me as possible designs:

• Guitar notes to Tablature Converter
• Temperature and Water control/indicator for faucet
• Picture Presentation to Computer
• Next Step to Clapper using voice recognition
• Gesture Fountain and Light Control to be used as a show

The Idea that I will be exploring for my interaction design project will be the Guitar Notes to Tablature converter

Idea/Concept: A music-computer interface that would recognize each musical note and then transcribe individual guitar notes to the standard tablature format.

Proof of Concept: test the concept by fully transcribing the entire scale from frets 1-12 of the E1 string on a standard tuned guitar.

Technology Expected to be used: Build the interface using PD Extended. Guitar(user) to Computer Interaction.

Outcome Of Project: A standalone program that will listen to a musical note produced by a guitar that will transcribe the note to the tablature format.
