IXD Fairy Tale HW

In Greek and Roman mythology as a whole, the stories are told such that the gods and goddesses have their own humanity to them; they have character flaws and make mistakes, and are far from being infallible deities. Zeus has numerous affairs, enraging his wife Hera, Hephaestus has a grudge towards Ares because Aphrodite, Hephaestus' wife, constantly cheats on him with Ares, Hermes comes into conflict with Apollo over cattle, and all the gods constantly involve themselves in petty squabbles and mortal affairs.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, by Rick Riordan, take the gods, heroes, and monsters of Greek myth and reconstructs them in modern day America. Ares is a vicious biker, Hermes, god of messengers, runs a delivery service, and Mount Olympus is even magically located above the Empire State building instead of the actual Mount Olympus. The stories are written as if the gods progressed with humanity from ancient times, and although a lot of this is played for humor, it can also serve as an interesting interpretation of the old gods in modern day.
