The Area

I suggest that everyone interested in 3D, effects, movies, games etc. registers at the Area, Autodesk's Digital Entertainment and Visualization community. There you can participate in forums, download tons of goodies such as scripts, shaders, textures, tutorials and even look for jobs once you are ready for them.

The video above just gives you an idea of what Maya can do with a little help from some clever scripts available at the Area.
