This is a great and scary little film. I had seen it a couple of years ago as part of SIGGRAPH's computer animation selection. I love the Gaudi architecture which is of course inspiring no matter where you come from, and I believe Rodrigo is from Barcelona.
It should come as no surprise that he currently works for PIXAR.. You know what to do if you want to get a job there.
As we have mentioned in class, detailed atmospheric renders (like this one) require an enormous amount of time per frame. That is when a "render farm" comes to the rescue. Render Rocket is the one they used

Since many of you mentioned you had never heard of SIGGRAPH, which happens to be arguably the major computer graphics and interactive conference/exhibition in the world, take a moment to check it out. Every year it presents in a different city. This year it is in Vancouver, the place to be!

Needless to say the sound treatment is absolutely perfect. Pay attention to that.
