I need a little more guidance.....

I haven't thought about it extensively, yet, but I want to explore the significance of game decision making strategies and deeper explorations of human nature. The psychology of gaming deeply intrigues me. I'd like to develop and nourish my comprehension of 3-D technology as well. I do, however, feel as if I need more information in gaming technology to truly understand what I want to develop in the 6-week period, but I've been exploring my tools. I really enjoy the 3-D Face simulation technology and would like to learn more abut downloading the Bender program- now that looks extensive! I have some rough ideas about developing an interactive story, but I think I need more guidance to help me understand how I am to constructively and effectively use the tools build my story. How am I to integrate the interactive tools and which tools do you think are easiest for designer with little experience to utilize

The easiest and quickest way to develop a story with no experience in 3-D might be the Alice program.
here is a link to the free download

In this short of a time span I would caution against trying to master 3D modeling as that could take the whole semester to just get off the ground. None the less explore the options. Blender is a good free 3D modeling program and 3ds max is an industry level program that you can get a free 30 day trial of from autodesk.com.

Remember as well that "interactive story" is a very loose term. You do not necessarily have to make a 3-D game, or something digital at all for that matter as long as it contains elements of interaction and story.

Websites are interactive, Second Life is also another easy to use and interactive platform, board games are interactive, flash mobs are interactive, etc...
So just keep an open mind and focus on the story than find the best medium to support it.

I agree with Garret, Alice is a good place to start combining 3D and interactivity in a simple game structure and it will teach you a lot about basic programming, strategies etc.

We can talk about it in more detail but since you mention your interest in the psychology of gaming, that by itself is a big project to tackle and also there is a large body of reference to start.

Thank you guys for your comments. I needed the energetic kick in the butt. Funny that you mention it Garrett, but I was thinking about board games as I was reading the textbook. I really enjoy board games and think I could create an awesome interactive "whodunit" game, like Clue, but that brings me to another question: How would I go about integrating the game into digital form? Sooo many questions and I have tons to explore>> Maybe I should do some more digging, and I'll get back to you guys.
